James Fowler (1860s)
James Fowler
- School Yale University
Biographical Information[edit]
James Fowler was a substitute player for the 1869 Cincinnati Red Stockings. He served as the team's scorekeeper and travelled with them to every game to track scores and to play if they didn't have enough players. He got into one game on June 24, after catcher Doug Allison got hit in the face with a foul ball (George Wright was moved to catch from short and Fowler took Wright's spot at shortstop). Fowler attended Yale University.
