James E. Brunson III
James Edward Brunson III is a historian born in 1954. He is the author of a major book on early black baseball entitled Black Baseball, 1858-1900: A Comprehensive Record of the Teams, Players, Managers, Owners and Umpires (2019). In 2022, he was named a recipient of SABR's Henry Chadwick Award in recognition of this masterwork and the seminal research behind it.
He is the assistant vice president for Diversity and Equity in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Northern Illinois University.
