Jakub Jonák has played for a number of years in the Czech Extraliga.

Jonák hit .225/.321/.310 for Krc Altron in 2003 and went 3-3 with three saves and a 3.23 ERA; he was third in the Extraliga in saves. In '04, he was 3 for 20 with 2 walks and a double; he had a 2-3 record with two saves and a 2.50 ERA. During 2005, Jonák batted .226/.369/.245; on the mound, he was 3-4 with six saves and a 4.46 ERA and was second in the circuit in saves.

In 2006, Jakub hit .194/.219/.226 and was 3-1 with four saves and a 2.58 ERA. He tied Petr Pacas and Jan Řeháček for third in the Extraliga in saves and was 9th in strikeouts (52). Jonák was 0 for 8 with a walk in 2007 and was 4-3 with a save and a 1.66 ERA. He tied Boris Bokaj for the league lead in complete games (4) and also was among the leaders in innings pitched (76, 3rd), strikeouts (55, 7th) and ERA (7th).

Jonák went 8-3 with a 2.15 ERA in 2008. He was 5th in the league in ERA and strikeouts and third in innings (96 1/3). In the 2008 European Championship Qualifiers, he allowed one run on two hits and a walk in one inning and fanned two. The Czech Republic won the event to earn a spot in the 2010 European Championship.
