Biographical Information[edit]

Jake Smolinski hit his first major league home run on September 16, 2014, playing for the Texas Rangers. He had missed two months of the season with a broken foot after making his big league debut with Texas in June of that year. The two-run shot off Scott Kazmir in the 4th inning was the key blow in a 6-3 win by the Rangers over the reeling Oakland A's. He ended the season red hot, finishing the year with a line of .349/.391/.512 in 24 games, with 5 doubles and 3 homers.
