Biographical Information[edit]
"Jack is full of life and one of the liveliest of the squad where his teammates are concerned." - from a Boston newspaper account
Jack Thoney was in the majors in 1902-1904, 1908-1909, and 1911. He was considered a very fast runner, and stole 42 bases in his 264 major league games.
He suffered from a variety of injuries, and those apparently contributed to his spending time in the minors. He played for Toronto and Jersey City.
After his major and minor league days, he played some semi-pro ball and was a guard for Brink's.
