Biographical Information

Jack McDonald, who had played in 1869 with the amateur Brooklyn Atlantics, was in the National Association in 1872 playing for the Brooklyn Atlantics and Brooklyn Eckfords.

His .258 batting average for the 1872 Atlantics, while slightly above the team average, was below that of most of the regulars. On the other hand, his slugging percentage was around 40 points above the team average. Defensively with the Atlantics he posted a .720 fielding average in the outfield, which was one of the lower averages on the team.
