Biographical Information[edit]
Jack Butterfield was the head coach at the University of Maine (1957-1974) and the University of South Florida (1975-1976). He was named college coach of the year in 1964 when he took Maine to the 1964 College World Series.
Butterfield joined the New York Yankees in 1976 as a scout and moved up to VP in charge of scouting and player development. He died in an auto accident in 1979.
His son Brian Butterfield later coached in the majors.
