Biographical Information[edit]

Jack Bruton is the brother of Bill Bruton. He played in the Negro Leagues. Jack came up with the Birmingham Black Barons in 1936, when they did not play in an organized league. He was 6-7 as their most-used hurler in 1937 as they joined the Negro American League. In 1938, Jack was 1-1 for Birmingham and 4-4 for the Philadelphia Stars. He bounced around for three more years, primarily as a backup infielder and outfielder.
