JUGS gun

A JUGS radar gun is a type of radar gun used by scouts. Another model which is also used is the "Ra-gun".
The JUGS gun is the "fast" gun, which measures the ball's speed when it is released from the pitcher's hand. Ra-guns show slower speeds, because this radar gun measures the speed of the ball when it is at the batter.
Scouts will rarely sign a pitcher who does not throw at least 84-85 MPH on the JUGS gun. Even pitchers who have great breaking pitches of change-ups will not be signed if they cannot attain that speed, unless they are knuckleballers, for whom speed is irrelevant.
