Biographical Information[edit]
JD Alleva was a minor league catcher who became a scout.
Alleva was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 24th round of the 2001 amateur draft after hitting .332 as a senior at Duke. Assigned to the Spokane Indians, he hit .283/.336/.409 that summer as the most-used catcher. He led the Northwest League with 12 passed balls. In 2002, he hit only .225/.303/.257 as the backup backstop for the Burlington Bees. He spent 2003 with the Wilmington Blue Rocks, batting .250/.311/.321 while getting a team-high 48 games behind the plate. With Matt Tupman at catcher for Wilmington in '04, Alleva moved to 1B and produced at a .211/.267/.284. He ended his career with a batting line of .244/.305/.323 in four seasons, scoring 79 runs and driving in 97 in 934 plate appearances over 249 games. He fielded .993 at catcher and .985 at first base.
