Biographical Information[edit]
J. Roy Stockton was a sportswriter who covered the St. Louis Cardinals from 1915 to 1958, mostly for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Stockton hired Bob Broeg for the Post-Dispatch. In addition to his newspaper work, Stockton wrote several books, had a weekly radio show, served as president of the Florida State League, and was a member of the Veterans Committee of the Hall of Fame.
Shortly before his death in 1972, he was honored by the Hall with the J.G. Taylor Spink Award.
