Island Park
Island Park was a ballpark in Harrisburg, PA built on City Island, an uninhabited island in the Susquehanna River long used for recreational purposes. The location was used for amateur baseball as early as the 1880s and the first permanent ballpark was built in 1904 for the Harrisburg Senators of the Tri-State League. It was then used by all subsequent professional teams based in the Pennsylvania state capital , most of them named the "Senators", for the next four decades. From 1924 to 1927, the ballpark was also the home of the Harrisburg Giants of the Eastern Colored League. The ballpark was destroyed by a flood in 1936.
On September 3, 1924, Nip Winters of the Hilldale Club pitched a no-hitter against the Giants here, the first in the history of the ECL. Babe Ruth and the 1928 New York Yankees played a game against Harrisburg at the ballpark.
RiverSide Stadium was erected on the same site in 1987.
