Iraq national baseball team

From BR Bullpen

The Iraqi national baseball team was founded in 2004 by three Iraqi teenagers who grew up in the USA. The team is based in Baghdad and now consists of 16 young Iraqis who were practicing on a soccer field with three baseballs and an old softball bat. The team members pay their own expenses, and are not paid for playing. AS of 2009, the team's coach is Hamza Madlool.

After being featured in an MSNBC report in 2009, a baseball equipment company in the Bronx donated professional grade spikes, gloves and bats to the team. With this equipment, they hope to improve their playing abilities.
