Biographical Information[edit]

Right-hander Ike Pearson spent ten seasons in professional baseball from 1939 to 1951. Pearson enlisted in the United States Marines in September 1942, during World War II and was discharged in February 1946.

Pearson was a hard-luck pitcher who lost nearly 80% of his major league games. He was with the Philadelphia Phillies for four seasons (1939-1942) and also in 1946 on his return from the service.

Ike also spent time with the Chicago White Sox in 1948. he was converted mainly to a reliever in 1941 and had six saves, but thereafter had fewer save opportunities. Pearson ended his big league career in 1948 with a 13-50 record and a 4.83 ERA, while appearing in 164 games.

Pearson also spent five years in the minors (1946-1947, 1949-1951) with a 22-28 record in 211 games.

Pearson had served as a Captain in the United States Marine Corp during World War II. He died on March 17, 1985 in Sarasota, FL at the age of 68.
