Biographical Information[edit]
Ichiro Horita won a Triple Crown in the Tokyo Metropolitan University League (second division) and was drafted in the sixth round of the 1996 NPB draft by the Yomiuri Giants. He never became a regular with Yomiuri, though he won batting average and home run titles in the Eastern League. Used almost entirely as a pinch-hitter and backup outfielder, he topped 50 AB with Yomiuri twice, in 2004 (.260/.315/.540) and the next year (.250/.319/.266). Overall, he batted .200/.258/.312 in 215 AB in 249 games. A concert fan, he retired after the 2006 season to work in the Yomiuri chain.
