Biographical Information

Ian MacDonald was a sportswriter for the Montreal Herald (1950-1954), Montreal Star (1955-1969) and Montreal Gazette (1970-1997 as a full-time employee, part-time after that). he was considered one of the most important sportswriters in Canadian history. He covered baseball for the Gazette, particularly the glory years of the Montréal Expos, and also wrote about many other sports during his career. He was the longtime president of the Montreal, QC chapter of the Baseball Writers Association of America. In 2009, he was given the Jack Graney Award.
