Biographical Information[edit]
Hyun-seok Jung has played in the Korea Baseball Organization.
Jung was taken in the 4th round of the 2007 draft. He was 0 for 7 in his KBO debut for the Hanwha Eagles in 2008. In 2009, he hit .200/.241/.236 as a backup outfielder for Hanwha. The next year, he batted .262/.323/.371 in 202 at-bats over 114 games. In 2011-2012, he fulfilled his military service by playing for the Korean Police Baseball Team. He appeared for the South Korean national team in the 2011 Baseball World Cup, starting in right field ahead of Dong-min Han and hitting .231/.310/.308 while handling 18 putouts with no errors. He had a couple big hits: a two-run double off George Delgado of Venezuela to tie the game at 3 in the 6th en route to a 5-4 win and a double off André Hughes of Germany to start a rally from down 2-1 in the 6th (he wound up scoring the tying run on an error by Ludwig Glaser on a steal attempt) in a 10-inning 6-5 win. He returned to Hanwha's active roster in 2013.
