Biographical Information[edit]
Hun-gon Kim played for the South Korean national team in the 2009 Baseball World Cup. The outfielder hit .208/.345/.333 with a team-high 6 RBI, half of which came on one homer off Great Britain's Gary Tongue. He turned pro with the Samsung Lions in the 2011 KBO, going 1 for 12 with 6 strikeouts. He was 2 for 18 with a double in 2012 and 0 for 3 in 2013. In 2014, he hit .260/.359/.423 in 123 at-bats over 76 games as they won the 2014 Korean Series.
Kim served his military time in 2015. He again played for South Korea on the international stage, going 5 for 16 with 3 walks, 4 runs and two RBI as a corner outfielder when they won Gold in the 2015 Asian Championship.
