Biographical Information[edit]
Humberto Mejía pitched for the Panamanian national team in the 2016 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. Relieving Ariel Jurado with a 1-0 lead in the finals against Colombia, he threw three shutout innings before surrendering the tying run; Panama would go on to lose. They had a much smoother time in the 2022 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers. He started the opener and went four shutout (2 H, 1 BB, 5 K) to beat Guido Monis and Argentina; Randall Delgado succeeded him and Panama's pitchers would not allow a run in either game in cruising to a spot in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic in 14 years.
