Biographical Information[edit]

Hugh Reid played just one game in his Major League career. This was for the Baltimore Canaries in 1874. He went 0 for 4 in the game. However, he also appeared in 6 National Association games as an umpire: 1 in 1871, 1 in 1873 and 4 in 1874.

Born in May 1852, he was the first major leaguer born in Cleveland, OH, although by the time he arrived in the bigs in 1874, Martin Mullen (born three months later) had already made his debut.
