Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Huey Morrill was originally taken by the Los Angeles Angels in the 36th round of the 2018 amateur draft out of high school, but opted not to sign, choosing to attend Oklahoma State University instead. He was initially a middle infielder at Oklahoma State, but by 2021 was struggling mightily at the plate. In 2022, he spent considerable time both at the dish and on the mound.

He eventually signed as an undrafted free agent with the New York Yankees on July 22, 2022. New York utilized him as a pitcher his first professional campaign, 2023, and he went 1-1 with a 6.52 ERA in 7 relief appearances between the FCL Yankees and Tampa Tarpons. He averaged more than a K per inning.
