Biographical Information

Howard Starkman was a Toronto Blue Jays executive during their first four decades.

He was Toronto's Director of Public Relations from 1976-1998 and was behind the name the team contest that got the Blue Jays name. He had previously been a Director of Administration and Publicity for the Toronto Maple Leafs of the NHL. From 1999-2014, he was a Blue Jays vice president. He worked in public relations in 15 World Series and 10 All-Star Games, the 1998 Nichi-Bei Series and the 2009 World Baseball Classic. The Blue Jays established an Employee of the Year program called the Howard Starkman Award. He was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame as part of their 2016 class. He represented the Blue Jays on the MLB Network game show "Baseball IQ" in 2012.
