Horacio A. Veras Gómez

Biographical Information[edit]

Horacio Veras was an amateur second baseman and manager in the Dominican Republic. He played for the Dominican national team when they won Bronze in the 1954 Central American and Caribbean Games. He then coached for the Dominican Republic in the 1955 Pan American Games (Gold Medal, their first Pan American Games Gold in baseball), 1959 Pan American Games and 1962 Central American and Caribbean Games (Gold, their first in a Central American and Caribbean Games). He later was Director of Sports in the Dominican Republic (1966-1974) and Undersecretary of State for Sports.
