Biographical Information[edit]
Hoon-rak Choi played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 6 years.
Choi was drafted by the KIA Tigers in the 3rd round of the 2005 KBO draft, and he went 2-for-22 in his first season. He also represented South Korea in the 2005 Baseball World Cup, going 0 for 12 with a walk and a sac fly as a backup outfielder (he had four putouts and an error). In the championship game, he batted for Young-hun Cho in the 8th inning of a 3-0 loss to Cuba but struck out against Dany Betancourt. Choi stayed in the minors in 2006, and he only played 22 games with the big club in 2007. He then missed the next two seasons due to military service, and he hit .275/.348/.425 in 19 games in 2010. Choi recorded a .225/.296/.306 line in 2011, then he went 7-for-28 in 2012. He struggled in 2013 as he had a 2-for-18 record, then he announced his retirement in 2014.
Overall, Choi hit .204/.284/.273 with 35 hits and 2 homers in 6 seasons in the KBO.
