Biographical Information[edit]
Homer Norton was a college coach.
Norton played baseball, basketball, football and performed in track in college. Wikipedia claims he played for the Birmingham Barons from 1916-1919 but BR Minors does not list him with the Barons any of those years. He later was a baseball and football coach at the college level, winning the 1939 Sugar Bowl and national title and 1940 Cotton Bowl while at Texas A&M. In baseball, he coached Centenary College of Louisiana (1924?-1928?) and Texas A&M (1943-1944), coaching Les Peden and John Carden at the latter stop. In 1971, he was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame.
