Home Game (book)

From BR Bullpen

Home Game, by Bret Boone and Kevin Cook, is Boone's story of his life and career. He focuses on his family, being the first third-generation major leaguer, talking about his grandfather Ray Boone, father Bob Boone and brother Aaron Boone in detail as well as his own career. Boone's book is tainted by both the foul language and the lack of moral sense, bragging about being the brother-in-law of a Playboy model or scuffing up balls to help pitchers on his team. He honestly details his battles with alcoholism, brings up many interesting details on teammates (like how good Mark McLemore was at stealing signs to help him out) and the inside game of baseball. The book has at least notable error, as he describes a scene from his childhood in showdogging before the 1979 All-Star Game, yet the photo section inside claims the event was at the 1976 All-Star Game.
