The history of baseball in China dates to the 1860s.
History[edit]
Early history (1863 - 1945)[edit]
In 1863 the Shanghai Base Ball Club was formed. By 1895, three schools, Huiwen College and Tongzhou College in Beijing, and St. John's College in Shanghai organize baseball programs. On June 2, 1905 the first baseball game between two teams on the mainland takes place between St. John's College and alocal YMCA, with the college club winning. Two years later in 1907, Huiwen and Tongzhou play the first nation's intercollegiate game.
Recent history (1945 - 1990s)[edit]
China Baseball League and the Olympics (2000s - present)[edit]
The Chinese Baseball Association organized the China Baseball League with the hope to win a medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008.
