Biographical Information[edit]
Hisao Machida has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Machida was on the Japanese national team in the 1973 Asian Championship. The Hanshin Tigers drafted him in the fifth round of the 1974 NPB draft.[1] Although his batting was highly approved in the Industrial League, his poor defense limited him into pinch-hitter in pro baseball. He only hit .185/.237/.222 in his rookie year, then slightly improved to .222/.255/.378 in 1977. This performance couldn't help him stay in the big club, he then announced his retirement after staying in the ni-gun for the entire 1978 season. [2]
