Biographical Information[edit]
Hersh Lyons pitched only 1.3 innings in the majors but he had a ten-year career in the minors. He met his future wife in Rochester, NY while playing professional ball.
Lyons gave up no runs during his major league stint. His game was in early 1941 on the 1941 St. Louis Cardinals, a team on which Stan Musial made his debut in September 1941.
After baseball he served as a school principal for 25 years.
Lyons, who died in 2008, had been one of the oldest living former major leaguers.
