Biographical Information[edit]
After retiring, Herman Starrette was a coach for the Rochester Red Wings in 1967 and a minor league pitching instructor for the Baltimore Orioles from 1968 to 1973. He was a coach for the Atlanta Braves (1974-1976), San Francisco Giants (1977-1978), Philadelphia Phillies (1979-1981), Giants again (1983-1984), Milwaukee Brewers (1985-1986), Chicago Cubs (1987), and Baltimore Orioles (1988). He returned to the minors, including a stint as a coach for the 1992 Rockford Expos. He ended his major league coaching career with the Boston Red Sox, serving a brief time as pitching and bullpen coach in 1995 and returning as bullpen coach in 1997. He worked with Dan Duquette in Milwaukee, Montreal and Boston and retired after Duquette left the Red Sox in 2002.
