Biographical Information[edit]
Herbert Gallagher was head coach at Northeastern University from 1938 to 1942 and from 1946 to 1955. He was 140-105-2. He became the school's Athletic Director in 1955.
A member of Northeastern's class of 1935, Gallagher played baseball, soccer and hockey at the school. Sources say he played in the Provincial League, though Baseball-Reference.com does not have a record of him. He did spend time in the Cape Cod League. He was the Bourne Braves' player-manager in 1939.
He served in multiple official capacities in the world of hockey, including as chairman of the NCAA Ice Hockey Rules Committee and 1956 United States Olympic Hockey Committee.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
