Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Henry Perez played in the San Diego Padres system from 2000 to 2005. He began his career at 17 years old, spent his first three seasons in Rookie ball, and never pitched beyond Single-A.

He played for the AZL Padres (2000), Idaho Falls Padres (2001-2002), Eugene Emeralds (2003) and Fort Wayne Wizards (2004-2005). He was 17-24 with a 4.99 ERA in 90 games (55 starts); in 301 innings, he allowed 291 hits and 155 walks (1.482 WHIP), while striking out 279 batters. In 2001, he had 82 Ks in 71 2/3 innings, for a 10.3 K/9 IP ratio.

Going into 2002, he was named the Padres' #29 prospect, according to Baseball America.
