Biographical Information[edit]

Henry Jackson filled in at first base at the end of the season for the 1887 Hoosiers. Otto Schomberg had hit quite well while playing first for the Hoosiers during most of the season, but the next year hit only .214 and was done in the majors.

Jackson played for several minor league teams in 1888.

"In the seventh inning Jackson sent the ball into centre field for a home run, but was declared out for not touching second base." - Sporting Life's report on the game of Sept. 23 against Washington, with Jackson batting sixth in the order, in the Sept. 28, 1887 issue
