Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder Heliot Ramos was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 1st round of the 2017 amateur draft, with the 19th overall pick. He began his pro career that season with the AZL Giants, where he hit .348/.404/.645 in 35 games. He slugged 11 doubles, 6 triples and 6 homers, scored 33 runs and drove in 27 in an excellent first season that resulted in his being named a postseason All-Star and an organizational All-Star. In 2018, he was with the Augusta GreenJackets in the South Atlantic League. Playing against much older competition, he hit .245/.313/.396 in 124 games, with 11 homers and 52 RBIs. He was selected to play on the World Team for the 2018 Futures Game. He just cracked the top 100 prospect list prepared by mlb.com and Baseball Prospectus before the 2019 season, then was named to the roster of the National League team for the 2019 Futures Game.
He made his major league debut with the Giants on April 10, 2022, starting in left field against the Miami Marlins. He went 2 for 3 and scored a run in a 3-2 win.
He is the younger brother of Henry Ramos, who reached the majors in 2021 after a lengthy minor league apprenticeship; another brother, Héctor Ramos, is a professional soccer player and the all-time top scorer of the Puerto Rican national team.
