Biographical Information[edit]

Helen Filarski played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League from 1945 to 1950. She played for the Rockford Peaches (1945–1946), the Kenosha Comets (1947), the Peoria Redwings (1947) and the South Bend Blue Sox (1948–1950). In her six-year career, she batted .189 with 115 stolen bases, 248 walks and just 137 strikeouts. She never struck out more than she walked—her career-high in strikeouts was 30; her career-low in walks was also 30. Though she never hit above .209 in a campaign, she stole as many as 28 bases and knocked as many as six triples in a season.
