Biographical Information[edit]

Hee-bong An hit only .179/.281/.286 as South Korea's DH in the 1993 Intercontinental Cup, with 10 strikeouts in 28 at-bats. He batted .293/.356/.390 with six RBI in ten games in the 1994 Baseball World Cup, fielding .978 at 1B for the Silver Medal winners. He won another Silver with South Korea in the 1994 Asian Games. He was the All-Star first baseman in the 1995 Asian Championship. In the 1996 Olympics, he hit .280/.345/.480 as South Korea's main DH. He began his pro career in 1998 with the Hyundai Unicorns and hit .184/.200/.368 in a career-high 23 games. He was 6 for 17 with a double and a homer in 1999 and 0 for 1 in 2000. Moving to the KIA Tigers in 2001, he was 3 for 12. Overall, he had batted .235/.284/.397 in the Korea Baseball Organization.
