Biographical Information[edit]
Heath Herron was a star at Tarleton State University. He had led his high school to a state title in 2002 and won All-State honors twice. In college, he hit .213 as a junior but batted .406/.487/.642 with 73 runs in 55 games as a senior. He tied a school record with 5 hits in a game in game one of a March 28, 2008 doubleheader - then tied the record again in the nightcap. His 93 hits that season were a school record. He was named a first-conference outfielder for the Lone Star Conference.
Herron signed with the independent Corpus Christi Beach Dawgs after graduating and hit .233/.320/.256 in 28 games. For 2009, he signed with Sweden's Karlskoga Bats. He debuted on May 9, going 7 for 9 with 2 walks, 6 runs, 6 RBI, 2 doubles, a steal and two errors at shortstop in a doubleheader rout of Gefle.
