Biographical Information[edit]

"Grubb is one of eleven Indians (including pitchers) to finish his career with a perfect on base percentage of 1.000 and he is the only one of the group to do so without a hit." - from a 2015 article [1] about Harvey Grubb

Harvey Grubb had only one day in the majors, but it was perfect. At the plate, he had one appearance and was hit by a pitch, thus posting an OBP of 1.000. In the field, he played one inning and handled his one chance flawlessly, for a fielding percentage of 1.000. What a day!

Harvey, through 2019, is one of only two players born in Lexington, NC, with the other coming several decades later - Johnny Temple. Harvey started in the minors at age 18 and played for 15 years. Among other places, he played five years in Waco, TX and four years in Corsicana, TX. He was primarily a third baseman.

He died in 1970 in Corpus Christi, TX.
