Biographical Information[edit]
Harry Gallatin briefly played pro baseball but is better remembered as a Hall of Fame basketball player.
A pitcher, Gallatin played for the Decatur Cubs in 1949, going 7-9 with a 4.28 ERA, and the Decatur Commodores in 1950 (12 GP, under 45 IP). He also played professional basketball for a decade, primarily with the New York Knicks. A 7-time All-Star, he once led the NBA in rebounding and would make the Basketball Hall of Fame. Following his playing days, he was basketball coach at Southern Illinois University for four years and then coached in the NBA for four more years.
