Biographical Information[edit]

Harrison Bishop played in the minor leagues from 2007 to 2009.

A star basketball and baseball player in high school, Bishop went to Edmonds Community College as a freshman in 2004. The Baltimore Orioles picked him in the 40th round of the 2004 amateur draft but he did not sign. He had Tommy John surgery and missed the 2005 season. In 2006, he fanned 58 in 52 2/3 IP for Bellevue Community College. Bishop went to the University of Washington in 2007 and had a 3.42 ERA and no decisions or saves in relief.

The Pittsburgh Pirates chose the right-hander in the 17th round of the 2007 amateur draft. He made his pro debut with the State College Spikes, going 1-0 with a 3.03 ERA in 19 games; he fanned 33 in 29 2/3 IP. In 2008, he was 5-2 with a save and a 3.23 ERA for the Hickory Crawdads. He struck out 60 in 55 2/3 innings while allowing just 40 hits. He was assigned to the 2009 Lynchburg Hillcats and had a 5.02 ERA in 35 appearances with them.
