Biographical Information[edit]

Hans van Deursen was a Dutch umpire. He had played as a 1B/C in TYBB for seven years when they were in the Dutch minors. He started his umpiring career in 1970 and debuted in the Hoofdklasse in 1984. He worked in the 1989 European Junior Championship and 1991 World Port Tournament. Starting in the 1990s, he also taught umpiring clinics. He retired as an umpire in the Hoofdklasse after 1999 (save a brief return in 2001). In 2005, he stopped umpiring altogether and became an umpire observer, evaluating how umpires at different levels of Dutch baseball were performing, a role he held until his death.
