Biographical Information

Hank Gastright had some notable successes in the majors. He won 30 games in 1890 with the Columbus Solons of the American Association and went 15-5 in 1893 splitting his time between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Boston Beaneaters.

On June 1, 1894, he pitched a one-hitter against Chicago. He also pitched a "no-hitter" on October 12, 1890, but it only went eight innings before being called due to darkness.

After baseball he spent some time as a policeman.

". . . Gastright . . . (was) a large factor in Boston's success, as his good work came at a time when both Stivetts and Staley were off in form. . .
