Biographical Information[edit]

Hal Schwenk is one of the few major league pitchers to appear in just one major league game and yet pitch more than nine innings. Schwenk appeared in his game on September 4, 1913, and pitched 11 innings, giving up four runs and getting the win.

At 22, it was his last major league game, which may seem unfair. However, the St. Louis Browns that year had a pitching staff whose average age was 23.6, and their team ERA was 3.06. So Schwenk didn't attract as much notice as one might have thought.
