Biographical Information[edit]
At 18, Guy Cooper ran away from home to enlist in the United States Navy against his father's wishes. He served for two years, 1911 and 1912, and became a standout pitcher for a Navy team in Norfolk, VA, leading to his signing his first professional contract with the Petersburg Goobers of the Virginia League in 1913. The team apparently arranged for his release from the service. Guy reached the bigs in 1914, pitching eleven games over the next two seasons with the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox.
Guy was the last of three managers of the Ogden Gunners in the 1926 Utah-Idaho League. The team finished 6th with an overall record of 46-65.
