Biographical Information[edit]
Gordon Hickman pitched in the minor leagues from 1904 to 1910. He was 24-11 in 38 games for the Monroe Hill Citys his first campaign. He tied Robert Lee Vernuelle for the Cotton States League lead in victories. A few years later, in 1908, he won 18 games for the Mobile Sea Gulls. Per records available, he was 79-64 over 7 seasons.
He was taken by the St. Louis Cardinals from the Denver Grizzlies in the 1905 Rule V Draft.
He was one of three managers for the Decatur Twins in 1911, replacing Don Burt and being replaced by Con Harlow. He was the manager of the Bessemer Pipemakers in 1912, though the team disbanded in July.
