Biographical Information

Giovanni Ouin currently (2009) pitches for the Rouen Huskies in Division Elite. He has been with Rouen since 2002, previously having played ball for Dieppe, from 1989-2001.

He was hit hard in the 2005 European Championship (6 H, BB, 3 R, 3 ER in 1 1/3 IP); his 20.25 ERA was second-highest on France; Thomas Meley was at 108.00. In the 2007 European Championship, Ouin allowed 7 hits and 5 runs in 1 1/3 innings out of the bullpen against the Dutch national team; it was his only appearance in the 2007 Euros for the French national team and a tough assignment, facing the top team in the event. In the 2007 Division Elite season, he had a 10.13 ERA in five appearances and no decisions. This would make his selection for Team France that season appear odd, but perhaps his being a rare French southpaw played a role.

Pitching for Rouen in 2008, he went 6-2 with a 3.58 ERA and allowed 37 hits in 50 1/3 IP but walked 35. In the 2008 European Cup in Grosseto, Ouin allowed four hits and one run in 1 1/3 IP.
