Biographical Information[edit]
In a 1992 Sports Illustrated poll of some 90 big leaguers, several Baltimore Orioles, including Brady Anderson and Sam Horn, named Gibson Alba the pitcher that made them most uncomfortable at the plate. An effectively wild lefty, Alba had wrapped up his career following the 1991 season, with his big league career comprised of 3 appearances with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1988. He wore number 47 during his brief stay in the major leagues. In 1986, Alba led the Dominican Winter League in ERA and winning percentage.
