Biographical Information[edit]

Gerardo Yépiz set a UNM record with 126 career walks (since broken) and he led the team in average in 1990 (.356), walks all three years, runs in 1991 and 1992. He played for the Mexican national team in the 1991 Intercontinental Cup (.294/.400/.294, 4 R in 6 G; .969 FLD% as their main second baseman) and 1991 Pan American Games. The third baseman played 43 games for the 1993 Rieleros de Aguascalientes, hitting .234/.379/.234, walks again being a key part of his game. That was the entirety of his career in the minors.
