Biographical Information[edit]
George "Zeke" Zackert played for the 1911-12 St. Louis Cardinals. He also played a decade in the minors, winning in double figures several times. He won 22 games each year for Muscatine in 1913-14.
According to the Boston Globe of May 10, 1912, page 8: "The application by the St. Louis National League Club for a reopening of the Zachert [sic] case was dismissed by the National Baseball Commission here today. St. Louis was recently ordered to pay the salary of player Zachert from the beginning of the season of 1912 'until he is formally released'. The commission held that his transfer to the Montreal club was not legally completed."
