Biographical Information[edit]
George Sweeney was a minor league infielder who worked briefly as a major league umpire.
Sweeney hit .261 and slugged .304 in 59 games in 1941 between the Eau Claire Bears and Crookston Pirates. He filled in as an umpire in the 1979 American League during the umpiring strike.
